Jefko, Harry M., of Western Springs, loving father and grandfather, was received by the Lord, Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at LaGrange Memorial Hospital.
Born September 4, 1944 in Rockford, son of Frank and Cecelia (née Karczewski) Jefko. Harry was a devout Roman Catholic who served as an altar boy, and was later a long-time parishioner of St. John of the Cross in Western Springs. Graduated from St. Stanislaus School and East High School in Rockford, and University of Illinois at Chicago. Harry worked for National Casein and later owned and operated Econo Trading Co. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Bears fan and season ticket holder for many years.
Survivors include children, Leigh (John) Hourihane of Chicago, Jennifer Jefko of Hinsdale, and Sara (James) Bachinski of Western Springs; grandchildren, Corey Jefko, Krista Landers, Kyle Bachinski, and Anna Bachinski; sister, Dorothy Knabe; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved English Setter, Rio. Predeceased by parents, Frank and Cecilia Jefko; and brothers, Edmund Jefko and Frank Jefko.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford, IL. Visitation at Holy Family, 9:30 am until time of Mass, with a Rosary recited at 10:15 am. Final resting place will conclude in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, IL.
