Harry E. Friend

Harry E. Friend, 86 Harry E. Friend, 86 of Byron, died January 18, 2008 in his home. Born October 3, 1921, the son of Eugene and Kittie (Hammons) Friend in Springfield, MO. Entered into the Army Infantry serving in WWII. Married Edna Drake in Strafford, MO on January 4, 1946. Worked for Barber-Coleman for 18 years retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Rockford School Board for 18 years and also belonged to the VFW. Survivors include his children Wayne E. Friend of Rockford, Linda (Robert) Falk of Oregon and Kathy Friend of Dubuque, IA; 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and brother Rex Friend of Bois DArc, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on November 19, 1990 and sister, Helen. At Harrys request all services and inurnment were held privately in Byron Cemetery.
