Harriett H. (Sadewater) Bussan, 82, of Pecatonica, IL, left this world to meet her eternal rewards in the early hours of Sunday, July 25, 2021. Harriett was born March 26, 1939, in New Milford, IL, the youngest child to Emil & Lulu Victoria (Larson) Sadewater. She graduated from Rockford West High, in 1958, and married James Bussan on November 14, 1959. Harriett went on to become a mother and homemaker; two jobs she took very seriously.
Harriett will forever be remembered as an amazingly compassionate individual, with an unfathomable amount of kindness for everyone she met. No worker or delivery person ever left Harriett’s home without a treat; be it soda, or candy, or a bag of cookies. For years, Harriett suffered from Congestive Heart Failure (enlarged heart), and in the end, it was her heart that failed; true to form for someone with the biggest heart of them all. Harriett was a long-time, devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Pecatonica.
Harriett is survived by her adoring children, and daughter-in-law, Matthew(Margaret) of Cary, IL, and Connie of Rockford; loving grandchildren: Alex, of San Francisco, CA, Kathleen, of Denver, CO, and Ian of Cary; and her three doting and devoted sisters: Joyce(Dick) Whittington of Pecatonica, Vi(Ed) Johns of Pecatonica, and Pat(Doug) Bressler of Leesburg, FL; numerous nieces and nephews who meant the world to her; and best friend, Judy Zimmerman of Cherry Valley.
Predeceased by her beloved parents Emil & Lulu (Mama & Papa); husband, Jim; and siblings: Ed (Dorothy), Dorothy(Gilbert) Carlson, Francis(Virginia), Phyllis, LaVerne(Mary), Lorraine(Earl) Tracey, and Stanley. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at MercyHealth Hospice for their incredible care and compassion.
