Harold O. Schewe

Harold O. Schewe, 67, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born on February 19, 1954, in Rockford, Illinois; he was the son of Orville and Naomi (Hartwig) Schewe. Harold was a 1972 graduate of Harlem High School. He married the love of his life, Jill (Rose) Schewe, on July 26, 1975, and recently celebrated their 46th anniversary. He was employed at Eagle Country Market starting at 16 as a bagger and worked his way up to store manager. Harold believed in working hard and giving your best in everything you do. Coming from a large family, he carried a strong sense of family and taking care of each other. He enjoyed boating, fishing, road trips, watching westerns, doing DIY projects including woodworking, tinkering in the garage, and loved playing cards.

Harold is survived by his wife, Jill (Rose) Schewe; his son, Andrew Schewe; five siblings, Barbara (James) Jorgenson, Wayne Schewe, Beverly Dickson, Brian (Jenny) Schewe, and Bruce (Melanie Ferguson) Schewe; two brothers-in-law, Dana (Susan) Rose and Mark (Janus) Rose and numerous extended family members. Predeceased by his parents; parents-in-law, Herman and Betty (Sister) Rose; sister-in-law, Jean Schewe; brother in-law, Lee Dickson; uncles and aunts, cousins and nephew.

Harold’s family would like to give a special thanks to Serenity Hospice and Home for the compassionate care they gave to him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. at the Community Center in Westlake Village at 3677 Westlake Village Drive, Winnebago, IL 61088. Family and friends may gather at 3:00 p.m. prior to the Celebration of Life. Please wear masks and social distance for the event
