Harold “Ed” Whitney, 36, of Machesney Park, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was born November 12, 1981, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Frederick and Judie (Adams) Whitney. Ed graduated from Rockford Christian High School, class of 2000. He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Media and Animation from the Illinois Institute of Art, Schaumburg, Illinois campus. As a young man, Ed enjoyed partaking in re-enactment camping during pioneer days and at Shining Times Valley in Lynden Station, WI. He also enjoyed playing spoons on Christmas Eve with family. Ed loved to play online games and was very proud of his internship as a 3D artist with Pixel Liberation Front in Venice Ca. Ed worked on such movies as, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and advertisements for Mercedes Benz and HSBC Bank USA. He won “Best Team Animation” at ARTimation Film Festival 2006, Barrington, IL. He was a huge Star Wars fan. Ed was a caring, loving man who cherished his family. He will forever be in the hearts of those he touched. The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Swedish American Medical Center, Critical Care Unit.
Survived by his parents, Frederick and Judie (Adams) Whitney; sister, Lynn (Tom) Lackner; brother, Roger Whitney; niece, Allison Lackner; special friend, Cyndie Norton. Predeceased by his grandparents and uncle. Private services arranged with Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ed’s name to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, 225 E Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60611.
