Harold E. Metz

Harold E. Metz, 79, of Rockton passed away peacefully in his home, Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Born Feb. 9, 1935, in Apple River, Illinois, the son of Louis and Mable (Nyborg) Metz. His family migrated to Rockton when he was two years old, where he chose to remain and raise his family. He attended Hononegah High School. Harold married Margaret “Peggy” Rigotti in Rockford on September 24, 1956. He was employed as an assembly floor foreman, at Cotta Transmission for over 30 years until he decided to devote his life to full time farming. His passions included farming and restoring antique cars and tractors. Harold was a member of the “Model A” club, where he enjoyed cultivating many new friendships. He was a member of Farm Bureau and vacationed with the Ag. Venture Seed Company group.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Rockton; daughters, Deborah Long of Rockton and Lisa (Roland) Ingalls of Rockford. Grandchildren, William Ingalls and Alyson Long. Sister Esther Messing of Rockford. Sister-in-laws, Janice Burkins of Rockton and Mary Metz of Rockton. Many nieces and nephews and a very special nephew Joseph (Cecilia) Metz. Predeceased by parents. Siblings, Ruth Adams and Howard Metz.
Funeral Services at 11:00am Monday, January 26 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home 3910 North Rockton Ave. Pastor Jeff Fricke officiating. Burial in Rockton Cemetery.
