Guy A. Fiorenza, 80, lifelong Rockford resident died at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008 in Northwoods Healthcare Center in Belvidere. Born July 24, 1928 in Rockford, son of Anthony and Mafalda Chioppi Fiorenza (McCanna). Graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1947 and Creighton University in 1952. Member of Delta Sigma Fraternity. Veteran of U.S. Army, serving in the CIC. Married Gloria Pro, the love of his life, in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Rockford on June 7, 1952. Member of the Cathedral of St. Peter and was a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Muldoon Council 470 and a 4th degree member of the General Assembly 190. He was the president of Fiorenza Agency, Inc. for over 40 years. Guy was actively involved in many community and professional organizations. He was a board member of IIAI, County Chairman for Illinois Insurance Agents and was a Certified Insurance Counselor. He was a member of the St. Ambrogio Society, having served as president. He had been president of the North Main Businessmens Association, a Rockford Township Trustee and a precinct committeeman. He was a director of the Fire Mark Circle of the Americas, an avid collector of insurance memorabilia and a volunteer of Provena St. Anne Center. Among many other interests, Guy loved to play golf with his buddies, fish, and go camping. His greatest joy was his family. Survivors include his wife, Gloria; children, Karen Fiorenza, Darien, Kathy (Bob) Wiesemann, Decatur, Tony (Liz) Fiorenza, Caledonia, David (Linda) Fiorenza, Libertyville and Kris (Dan) Abrahamson, LaGrange; grandchildren, Carolyn, Ellen and Gretchen Wiesemann, Rachel and Margaret Fiorenza, Hannah, Neil, Claudia, Olivia and Cole Fiorenza, and Max and Joe Abrahamson. Also survived by his brothers, John (Joann) Fiorenza, Pewaukee, WI., and Bill (Mary) Fiorenza, Rockford; sister-in-law, Eleanor Pro Biasin and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dario and Aurelia Pro and his grandparents. Guys family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Northwoods Healthcare Center for the loving care that was given to him. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2008 in the Cathedral of St. Peter with Rev. William R. Wentink officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 5:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Visitation also from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m at the church on Friday. Memorials may be given to Parkinsons Disease Association or Charity of Donors Choice. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
