Greta Pettersen, 67, Rockford, died at 7:27 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in Rockford Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.nbsp; Born April 6, 1943 in Lillesand, Norway, daughter of Koll and Gudrun Hjertnes Harring.nbsp; Graduated from East High School in 1961.nbsp; She had formerly been employed by Barber Colman Co, Magna, Rockford School Board and had spent the past 20 years of her career with Hamilton Sundstrand.nbsp; Greta was an accomplished womannbsp; who had many talents. She was an excellent seamstress and a very creative cook and baker.
Survivors include her daughters, Tamara ((Douglas) Taylor, Coral Springs, FL and Amy (Christopher) Vincer, Houston, TX; grandchildren, Kelsey, Stephanie and Lucas Taylor and Katie and Allison Vincer; father, Koll Harring, Rockford; brothers, Paul (Carla) Harring and Allan Harring, Rockford; step-brothers, Tom (Maryann) Nimmo and Bob (Georgiann) Nimmo, Rockford; nephew, Steve Harring; step- nieces and nephews, Bob Nimmo, Jr, Sue Middleton, Heather Deming and Tom Nimmo, Jr.nbsp; Also survived by Kim Krueger and Patti McDuff both of Rockford, who were like daughters to her; great-nieces and nephews and cousins in Norway.nbsp; Predeceased by her Mother, Gudrun Harring; step-mother, Doris Harring and nephew, David Harring.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Pastor Gary Larson officiating.nbsp; Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday.nbsp; Private family burial.nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
