Gregory Lindmark, 53, of Loves Park, died Monday, February 9, 2015 in his home. He was born August 3, 1961 in Rockford the son of Gerald D. and Elissa J. (Zacharia) Lindmark. Graduate of Guilford High School class of ’79 and went on to MATC College and the FBI Academy. Greg started on the Rockford Police Department soon after graduation and had a very successful career retiring in August of 2011 as Deputy Chief. He went on to work for the bureau for Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato’s office and served as Chief investigator from 2011 till present. He married his beautiful wife, Sheryl Kelley on June 25, 2002 in Elizabeth, IL. In his off time Greg loved to golf, fish and spend time in Door County, W.I, but most of all he cherished his time with family and friends. He was a perfectionist with a wonderful, kind and caring heart, who always put others first. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sheryl of Loves Park; parents, Gerald and Elissa Lindmark of Rockford; brother, Brad T. (Margie) Lindmark of Roscoe; nephew, Zach; niece, Anna; mother/father-in-law, Neva (Peter A. ) Kelley-Paesani of Rockford; numerous special friends including, Theo Glover, Mike Booker, Ted Getty and Dominic Iasparro and his very best friends and K9 companions, Bella and Georgia. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lindmark; maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. A.L. Zacharia; father-in-law, James C. Kelley and a K9 buddy, Bandit.
Funeral Mass, Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. Visitation will be Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Holy Family and continues on Friday at church from 9-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to: LEARN (Labrador Education and Rescue Network) 9853 North Alpine Road, Box 206, Machesney Park, IL 61115 or ASPCA .
