Gregory "Greg" E. Sharkey

Gregory E. Sharkey, 62, of Rockford, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 30, 2023.

Greg was born in Kankakee, IL, on April 14, 1961, the son of Robert L. and Dortha L. (Davis) Sharkey. He married Constance “Connie” J. McCarren on January 3, 2007, in Maui, Hawaii. Greg was employed with Del Monte Foods in Rochelle, IL, for 24 years, while also owning and operating his own lawn care business that he started at the age of 12.

Greg always aimed for the satisfaction of the final masterpiece every time he did something. He had a smile that could light up any room. Everyone who knows Greg will remember his great big hugs, and don’t you forget them!

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Connie; sons, Shawn Valadez, Christian (Melissa) Jensen and Brian Jensen; daughters, Candice (Russell) Helfrich and Aleasha Kuderer; grandchildren, Brandon (Kasi) Bass, Cody Tillman, Zackary Bass, Kaylie Tillman, Melody Jensen, Corey Jensen, Katlynne ( Pedro) Chamochumbi, Charles Helfrich, Becca Kuderer, Alexis and Willow Jensen; great-grandchildren, Blake Bass, Briggs Bass, Alice Kuderer and Baby Chamochumbi on the way; sister, Fonda (Dan) Wyatt; many special brothers and sisters in law; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is predeceased by his parents, Darrell Christenson, mother-in-law, June McCarren and brother-in-law, Jack McCarren.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 11, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108.
