Grace Rieker

Grace Evelyn Rieker, 89, Rockford, passed away peacefully Monday, July 15, 2013, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 31, 1924, in Chicago, the daughter of Elmer and Olga (Lindquist) Dahlin. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Chicago in 1942. Grace married Darrell Ludwig in Corpus Christi, Texas on May 19, 1944. He passed away on June 8, 1945. She married William G. 'Bill' Rieker at Irving Park Lutheran Church in Chicago on November 27, 1947. Grace worked as a bookkeeper at the Victory Tennis Club for over 20 years. She was a 50 year member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and was active in many areas through the years.
Survived by her husband of over 65 years, Bill; her sons, James 'Jim' (Carol) Rieker of Rockford and Glenn (Cheryl) Rieker of Mequon, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Tiffany Harris, Amy Grafton, Tom (Trish) Lewis, Greg (Kristin) Lewis, Sarah (Frank) Smith, Jason (Julieanne) Rieker and Jordon (Julie) Rieker; 9 great-granchildren. Predeceased by her daughter, Lynn Rieker and her granddaughter, Victoria Rieker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 27, 2013, in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 4700 Augustana Dr with Reverend Kenneth R. Storck officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church or to Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center, 4215 Newburg Rd.
