Grace B. Hoffman

Grace B. Hoffman, 98, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013. She was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on November 12, 1915, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Palow) Bilterman. Grace graduated from Hiteman High School in 1932 and from Albia Junior College in 1934. She was a teacher in Iowa and taught from 1935 – 1939. She married Thomas F. Hoffman, Sr. on February 25, 1939, and in 1945 relocated to Rockford. Together they raised 5 sons and shared 35 years of marriage until Thomas passed away on October 7, 1974. Grace loved her family and always put others ahead of herself. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, nature, flowers, birds and going for walks were very important to her.
Grace is survived by her loving sons, Thomas F Hoffman, Jr., Lawrence E. (Sheryl) Hoffman, John W. (Betty) Hoffman, Paul E. (Colleen) Hoffman and Philip A. (Donna) Hoffman; granddaughter, Anna; grandsons, Jeremy (Melissa), Kyle (Erin); and Josh (Sarah) and great-grandchildren, Genevieve, Brooklyn, Calia, Greysen, Isabelle, Ellyson and Treyton. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Thomas F. Hoffman, Sr. and brother, Henry Bilterman. The family would like to thank all of the care givers and staff at PA Peterson for their compassionate care.
Funeral Service at 11:00 am on Friday, December 6, 2013 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service.
