Gordon "Gordy" W. Hoffman, 89, of Cherry Valley, passed away on December 17, 2024. He was born on June 9, 1935, in Rockford, the son of Homer and Lucille (Mechling) Hoffman. He graduated from West High School and attended Rockford Business College where he met the love of his life, Jan, and later attended some classes at Rock Valley College. Gordy served in the U.S. Army from 1957 - 1959, ranking as a Specialist 4. He married Janice "Jan" VanHara on April 11, 1964, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, and together had 60 wonderful years. He worked at Sundstrand for 7 years before moving to GC Electronics where he worked as a Cost Accounting Manager for 26 years. 

Gordy was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church for over 20 years. He enjoyed running marathons, running a total of 18, reading history books, and playing golf. He loved spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls. Gordy was a happy, thoughtful, and loving husband, father, brother, and friend. 

He is survived by his wife, Jan; sons, Mark and Timothy; sister-in-law, Jean (Mike) Fadden; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, and 2 sisters, Shirley and Marilyn. 

The family would like to give a special thank you to Alden Debes and the caring staff in the 300 wing for their wonderful care of Gordy.
