Gloria T. Fiorenza, 94, of Rockford, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Born September 11, 1926 in Rockford, she was the daughter of Dario and Aurelia (Marinelli) Pro. She was a graduate of West High School and a member of the Cathedral of St Peter. She married the love of her life Guy A. Fiorenza in 1952 and together had 5 children. Gloria’s phone was always ringing as she sustained lifelong friendships and embraced new ones.
Gloria was a lifelong community volunteer. Most of her community service centered around St. Anthony Medical Center Auxiliary. Her involvement spanned over 5 decades. She dedicated a record 15,000 service hours from her involvement with the gift shop, the annual Pink Ball Fundraiser where twice she served as Co-Chairman and St. Anthony Golf Invitational from its inception. Her most recent years of service were assisting in the Cancer Care Unit. For all her accomplishments she was twice recognized with the Super Senior Award.
Gloria gave the gift of her time to Provena St. Anne’s Center, St Ambrose Auxiliary, Greater Rockford Columbus Day Committee, Festa Italiana, Catholic Women’s League, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Gloria was active in the St. Anthony Church Altar & Rosary Society and St. Joseph Altar Committee.
Gloria was predeceased by her beloved husband, parents, Sister Eleanor Biasin and infant sister Palmina Pro. Gloria is survived by children Karen Fiorenza, Kathy (Bob) Wiesemann, Tony (Liz) Fiorenza, David Fiorenza, and Kris (Dan) Abrahamson; grandchildren, Carolyn (Aron) Hyde, Ellen (Sol) Hayon, Gretchen (Dan) Olwig, Rachel Fiorenza, Margaret (Nick) Keating, Hannah (Evan) Elliott, Neil, Claudia, Olivia, Cole Fiorenza, Max and Joe Abrahamson; and great grandchildren Carson, Declan and Hudson. She is also survived by her community of friends and extended family.
A walk through Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St, Rockford, IL. The service is available through Zoom, use meeting ID 8102906045, passcode, 123. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
