Gloria L. Cederstrom

Gloria Rowley Cederstrom, 98, of Rockford, passed away on January 23, 2023. She was born on June 19, 1924, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Christ and Hilda (Berquist) Larson. She was raised by Alfred and Ella (Berquist) Nyberg in Rockford, Illinois. She graduated from East High School, class of 1942. Gloria married Harry Rowley on June 28, 1943, who preceded her in death on November 23, 1967. She later married John Cederstrom on July 27, 1974, who preceded her in death on November 20, 2017. Gloria worked in the Winnebago County Treasurer's Office, Rockford Public Schools, and the Winnebago County Supervisor of Assessments office.

Gloria was a lifelong member of Bethesda Covenant Church and the Kathryn Circle. Her life was guided by her strong Christian faith. She was a brave and loving caregiver, and a builder of family love. She frequently volunteered in the activities of her young children's lives. She was an expert baker and her grandchildren looked forward to her many holiday treats. She delighted in the escapades of her great grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her children, Susan (Duane) Wilke of Boston, MA, Timothy (Colleen) Rowley of Rockford, Barbara (Howard) Beck of Micanopy, FL; John’s children, Susan (Noel Torgerson) Cederstrom, Peggy (Bruce) Knutson, and David Cederstrom; grandchildren, Mya Wilke, Kira Wilke, Noah (Jamie Mignano) Wilke, Eric (Alicia) Rowley, Katie (Sam) Milgrom, Anna (Steve) Janosik, and Marcus (Susie) Beck; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husbands, Harry and John; daughter, Pam DeJesus Edwards; John’s daughter-in-law, Nancy Eichinger; sister, Ethel Nyberg Anderson; and six brothers and sisters.

A visitation will be on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. A memorial service will follow starting at 12:00 pm. Private family burial will be in Scandinavian Cemetery.
