June 2, 1943 – January 29, 2025
Ginny Lee Baxter, age 81, of Loves Park, Illinois passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, at Maple Crest Care Center. She was born on June 2, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois to Dorothy and Ralph “Buck” Baxter. She was a gifted and caring English teacher at Jefferson High School in Rockford, Illinois, where she touched the lives of many students. She traveled throughout Europe many times and chaperoned students to further their education and expand their worldview. She became a guiding light for her former students.
Ginny loved to cook, go golfing, and travel the world. She developed friendships with colleagues, former students, neighbors, and people she met while traveling. Although she enjoyed cooking, she also loved having lunch or dinner out with her teacher friends, neighbors, and relatives. Ginny enjoyed experiencing new cultures from the Caribbean Islands with her sister to Cinque Terre, Italy, with her daughter, and long-time friends. Anyone who traveled with Ginny knew, no matter what problem came up, she would make it an adventure! Ginny’s zest for life will not disappear with her passing. Her passion for life will live on through all who knew her and loved her.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, sister, brother-in-law, niece, and by her best friend and constant companion. She is survived by her daughter, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Life for Ginny Baxter will be announced once arrangements have been finalized. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice in her honor.
