Giacomo Rosolia, 83, of Rockford, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born July 8, 1927 in Marsala, Sicily, son of Melchiorre and Cristina (Mortellaro) Rosolia. Married his beloved wife Paolina DiGiovanni on June 19, 1961 in Marsala. On Sept. 11, 1962 together with his wife and newborn daughter Christina, he came to Rockford to begin their American Dream. Speaking little English he started with nothing, but built up so much. Giacomo started his own business, 305 Tailor Shop, and began touching the lives of everyone who stepped in his path. His passion was to tailor garments with precision and accuracy, so that they would be enjoyed for years to come. He loved it so much that during his last days his family observed him sewing in his sleep. A proud U.S. Citizen, father, and later, a proud nonno, Giacomo was a person of tremendous spirit. He accomplished great things and showed everyone that knew him that you have one life and in it you should accomplish all you can. Maybe not something big, but no doubt, something great! Although we all mourn the loss of our wonderful and amazing dad, uncle, husband, nonno and friend, we all know that Giacomo wants to see our smiling faces and for us to enjoy these gorgeous sunny days. Survivors include his wife Paolina Rosolia; daughters, Christina (Jim) Piccione, Enza Rosolia-DiGirolamo and Ida (Pete) Graves; grandchildren, Mariangela and Anthony Piccione, Margaret, Vito, Giacomo DiGirolamo and Adriana and Alaina Graves; one brother, one sister and two sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
