Gerrit G. Versendaal

Gerrit G. Versendaal, 83, Rockford, went to be with his Lord Saturday, November 30, 2013, after a tree-cutting accident near Byron. Born April 5, 1930, the son of Dirk and Magdalena (Nobel) Versendaal, he attended Christian schools in Holland, Michigan. He served in the U. S. Navy, graduated from Parks Air College, and worked for Ozark Airlines in St. Louis, Chicago, and Rockford. He was the private pilot for LeTourneau Earthmoving Equipment salesmen in Nashville, TN and Plymouth, IN. Moving to Rockford, he worked in machine shops and had a government contracting business. In 1970 he founded All Seasons Carpet Cleaning which he owned until he retired in 1997. In 1963 he married Joan Scholten who died in 1980. He married Jorena Ryken in 1982. Survivors include his wife, three children – Gary, Rita, and Brent (Andrea), four grandchildren – Alex, Skylar, Marly, and Jarreht, brothers and sister – Arie, Cornie, Dick and Jackie. Gerrit was a member of Rock Church and left behind a legacy of embracing life and Jesus Christ with all of his heart. He definitely is in the presence of the King now.

Celebration services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 6, at Rock Church, 6732 Harrison Avenue, Pastor John Sprecher officiating. Visitations will be from 6 - 8 pm Thursday and 10 -11 am Friday at Rock Church. Interment at Arlington Memorial Park. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 Mulford Road.
