Gerlanda Piranio, 86, of Rockford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born December 23, 1935, in Aragona, Sicily, the daughter of Dionisio Piranio & Rosaria Falzone. Gerlanda, along with her parents and her sisters, immigrated to the United States in 1962, settling in Rockford.
She worked for Nelson Knitting for many years. A devout catholic she was a member of St. Anthony of Padua. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and vegetables and her yard was always impeccable. Gerlanda’s family meant the world to her and she loved spending time with them. She is survived by her sister, Giuseppa Galluzzo; nieces and nephews, Dionisio (Laura Albanesi) Piranio, Rosaria (Bruno Lucaccini) Piranio, Paola (Ercole Toma) Piranio, Alfonza Flo Wilson, Rosa Mendez, Gino (Angela) Galluzzo, Maria (Antonino) Pipitone, and Denise (Derek) Wimmer; and numerous great nieces and great nephews. Preceded in death by brother Michele (Colomba De Agostinis) Piranio; sister Rosa (Gaspare) Solano and brother-in-law Salvatore Galluzzo.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2022, at St. Anthony of Padua, 1010 Ferguson St. Rockford, IL with a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
