Georgia A. Marinaro, 76, of Rockford, passed away peaceful in her home surrounded by family on December 25, 2018. Born December 31, 1941 in Rockford; she was the daughter of Anthony and Josephine (Guzzardo) Ruthey. She married James M. Marinaro on June 18, 1966 in Rockford.
A graduate of West High School and Illinois State University, Georgia was a teacher in Las Vegas, NV and the Rockford School System for many years. Georgia was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she was a participating member of the Women’s Guild. She was also a member of the St. Anthony Altar and Rosary Society and AAUW.
An avid Green Bay Packers fan, Georgia enjoyed playing the accordion, shopping, traveling, playing bridge, floral design, attending school events for her grandchildren, watching her son golf, her weekly and monthly social events at Sunrise Restaurant with fellow teachers and family and most of all spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Jim Marinaro; children, Carmen (Kurt) Nondorf, Gina (Mark) Midthun and Matt (Carrie) Marinaro; grandchildren, Lauren, Gia, Nick and Gianna; sister, Gerry (John) Sandona; sister-in-law, Jan (Tom) Powers; lifelong friends, Rosanne (Larry) Hemmens and Marion (Frank) Licari; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roger Ruthey; brother-in-law, David Marinaro; sister-in-law, Judee Quayle and nephew, Mike Powers.

Memorial Mass 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford. Visitation 8:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.
