George W. Edwards

George William Edwards, 79, of Loves Park, IL, died Sunday, June 13, 2021 in his home.

George was born April 23, 1942, in Pontiac, IL to William H. Edwards and Florence Dexter Edwards. He grew up in Pontiac, IL where he was an Eagle Scout and a lifeguard at Camp Humiston Pool. George graduated from Knox College in 1964, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He married Janet Pellouchoud in 1965, and they settled in Dwight where they owned and operated a floral and greenhouse business. George attended John Marshall Law School, and then entered the banking business. He worked with many local residents and farmers through Illinois including Kempton, IL, Piper City, IL, Newark, IL and Fairbury after which he finished his career as a Financial Institutions Examiner for the State of Illinois. George’s interests have always been centered around his family. He and Jan loved to travel and took their grandsons on many trips around the country and to Mexico.

George is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Derek) Anderson; two grandsons, Jordan and Matthew Anderson; sister, Becky (Paul) Douglas; brother, Dan (Sue) Edwards and a nephew, William G. Edwards. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Pontiac First United Methodist Church, 219 N. Chicago St. Pontiac, IL 61764 with Rev. Paul Arnold officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery, Pontiac. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Pontiac, IL.
