George W. Badgley

George W. Badgley 78, of Rockford (formally of Belvidere) passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Swedish American Hospital. Born April 19, 1938 in Gladwin, Michigan, the son of Vernie & Mary (Williams) Badgley. He married Nina Smith in Cicero, IL. on October 10, 1964. She passed away September of 1987. George then remarried Shirley Wooten in 1991. She preceded him in death in 2002. He worked for the Jewel Food stores for 30 years retiring in 1995. He served in the US Army. He enjoyed fishing, camping, his dogs, and was an involved in Boy Scouts and was a Cub Scout leader.
Survivors include sons; Lee (Barbara) and John Badgley of Chicago, 5 grandchildren; brothers Virgil, Alvin, David Badgley; sister Adella Badgley all from Michigan. And Gary Badgley of Elgin. Dear friend and caregiver, Dena Roethler of Rockford, numerous nephews and nieces including Sandra Bryant who was dear to his heart. He is preceded in death by his parents, wives, and sister Norma.
Funeral service will be 12 pm Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108, with the Rev. Dean Parker officiating.
