George Tom Burke, 73 of Cherry Valley passed away on July 12, 2007 in Rockford. Born April 11, 1934, son of Emmett Burke and Ruth Bloom. Tom graduated from East High School in 1952. He was employed by Greenlee, Served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and retired as a Lt. from the Rockford Fire Department. He largely contributed in coordinating the Forest City Fire Log, the Rockford Fire Department first one hundred years of history. He was also involved with the Midway Museum Center.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;
Survivors include his children Bradley (Marsha) Burke and Beckey Burke (Ronnie Martinson). Grandchildren Brandon Burke, Danielle Dani Burke and Anthony Miers. Brother Michael Burke. Special Cousins Patricia Leek, Sandra Gustafson and Jim Gray. Numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. Tom is predeceased by his parents and the mother of his children, Barbara Burke.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;
Funeral Service will be in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, July 16, 2007 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Camaioni officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 Sunday at the funeral home and also onnbsp;Monday from 10 until time of service. Interment in St. James Cemetery, Belvidere.
