George Michael Mustybrook, 69, of Belvidere, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, in his home with his family by his side. George passed away after a long struggle with Corticobasal Degeneration. Born July 27, 1938, in Belle Vernon, PA. George married his life long love, Gloria, ""Glo"" , on July 30, 1960 in Pennsylvania. George proudly owned and operated Linden Industrial Services and Forest City Erectors for forty years. He served in the Navy from 1959 until 1963. George was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was founder of Midwest Tool Collectors Association and an avid Rockford History Collector. He was president for many years of Northern Illinois Subcontractors Association. George was a member of Local 498 Iron Workers Union and taught management skills to apprentice iron workers for over 20 years. George was an honorary member of the Northern Illinois Building Contractors Association. George lived his life to the fullest. He most enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and grandchildren. Aside from the joy he derived from running his business, George enjoyed many hobbies especially racquetball, golf and collecting. George and his wife spent countless hours tending to their home and landscaping. George was blessed to have many friends and family members who will miss him deeply, especially Tom and Kathy Pozzi, special Aunt ""Ginny"" Kyle and special cousin Marsha Wurtlin. The family would like to extend its deep gratitude to the OSF Hospice Group, especially Julie, Zetta and Sandra. Additionally, the family thanks Lutheran Social Services, Linda Nash and special caregivers, Maurice and Bonnie. George is survived by his wife, Gloria; his twin children, Mark (Dionna) Mustybrook of Sacramento, CA. and Michelle (Charles) Johns of Palatine, IL; Five grandchildren, Brittany and Marky Mustybrook; Lizzie, Peter and Andrew Johns; Four sisters, Mary Gene (Joe) Bridge, Billie Ann Gilmore, Betty Mae (Martin) Kronander and Denise (Mike) Mihalic. Predeceased by his parents, Mike and Grace Mustybrook and a special uncle, Eugene Kyle. Funeral mass will be at Holy Family Catholic Church Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2007 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and will continue on Tuesday at Holy Family from 10:00 10:45 a.m.. A private burial will be at Arlington Memorial Park.
