George John Famighette, 95, Roscoe, died on Saturday, April 17, 2021. Born July 21, 1925 in Oak Park, IL, son of Pascal and Mary Corso Famighette. Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Married Maryjane Bergin in 1952, she predeceased him in 1997. George then married Shirlee Oyen in 1998. George was a devoted Catholic and member of Church of the Holy Spirit. He was the founder and owner of Alpine Paper Company for many years. George was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He enjoyed time spent with family in the Northwoods. He also enjoyed all things Italian, he especially loved growing peppers and making his own special jars of hot peppers.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his daughter Judy (Dave) Adams; grandchildren, Nicole (Patrick) Nelson and their children, Cameron and Ella; Zachary (Becky) Adams and their children, Norah, Hadley and Logan; Becca (Steven) Picavet and their child Dexter. Also survived by Shirlee Famigette and her children, Cyndi (Mike) Ilseman, Rebecca (Joe) Zammuto, Jayne (Greg) Ragan, Andy (Linda) Oyen, Chip (Teri) Oyen and their children.
He is predeceased by his parents; son, Matthew Famighette; granddaughter, Mary Adams; sisters, Lillian Cianci, Delores Brady and Patricia Vrtlar.
George’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Heartland Hospice for the outstanding love and care that was given to him.
