George Henry Hertzner IV was born December 24, 1967, and after a long battle with mental illness left us in life on February 21, 2024. George is survived by his wife of 34 years, Dianne (Johnston) Hertzner of Monroe, WI; his two children Lynnzee (Seth) Flamang of Hayward, WI and Logan (Julia) Hertzner of Monroe, WI; his two beautiful grandsons Braxton and Beckett; his mother Barb Hertzner of Rockford, IL; siblings Barb Green of Rockford, IL, Loren Hertzner of Phoenix, AZ, Mark Hertzner of Rockford, IL, Kathy Jo of Rockford, IL; along with countless loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. George was preceded in death by his father, George Hertzner III, brother-in-law Gary Smith and his best friend Bobby Swanson.
George had the super power to engage any and everyone in conversation. Within seconds, George would be able to enter your world with a powerful, positive and genuine warm-hearted spirit. He was never shy to share the things he loved with you and if you spent enough time with him, you would find yourself loving those things just as much. George was a man of true passion. Anything he put his mind to, his energy and heart was all in. It wouldn’t take you long, though, to understand that George’s most true love and passion was his wife, kids and center of his world, his grandkids. ‘Awesome George’ as he was affectionately known as, was truly that on so many levels. You would sit in awe as you listened to a master storyteller share one of his adventures or stand in awe as you witnessed one first hand.
George held an incredible faith in people, no matter what walk of life they came from, George would find a way to walk with them on their path. He was a phenomenal friend. It didn’t matter if you were in another state, six hours or six minutes away, if you said ‘George, I need you,’ George was on his way.
George loved the outdoors and being in Jehovah’s creations. In fact, he love the outdoors so much he dug and stocked his own fishing pond in his backyard. His faith in his higher power was unshakable no matter what trial or battle he faced. We will remain in the fight for you now George…until we see you again.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations.
