George Anthony Kane

June 28, 1933 — June 25, 2007

George Anthony Kane, 73 of Rockford passed away Monday, June 25, 2007 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center following emergency surgery. Born in Cadott, WI to Leo and Margaret (Bruner) Kane, he helped his parents by working on the farm prior to moving to Illinois. On August 24, 1968 he married Patricia Newell in St. Bernadette Catholic Church. George worked for Chrysler and after 33 years of employment he retired on June 30, 1998. He also served in the United States Army and was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 135 of Belvidere, Blackhawk Trails Hiking Club and an avid deer hunter. He was a follower of the Greg Anderson Band of Monroe, WI; Goodtime Dutchmen Band of Kewaskum, WI and enjoyed traveling with his wife to many polkafests in WI, IA and MN. Special thanks to Dr. Welford, Dr. Butler and all the nurses and staff at OSF St. Anthony Critical Care Unit. Survivors include his wife Patricia, siblings Paul (Dorothy) Kane, Joseph "Peter" (Madeline) Kane, Lucy Delzer, Grace Weisner, leo "Sam" (Peggy) Kane, Francis (Sonja) Kane, Theresa Jelden, Christopher Kane, Catherine Roshell, Martha Richards, Patrick Kane, Theodore (Nancy) Kane. Special nieces Jane Kulberg and Linda Jacob. Many other nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. Predeceased by his parents, siblings Sister Rose Kane, John Kane, Mary Kane, Josephine Kane. Funeral Mass will be June 29, 2007 at 11 am in St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Drive, Rockford. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford. Rosary recited at 7:30 pm Thursday night. Visitation will continue from 10 am until time of mass in church. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Rita Catholic Church. To
