Geoffrey (Geoff) Brook

Geoffrey (Geoff) Brook, 75, of Rockford, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at Alpine Fireside Health Center. Born March 21, 1943 in Halifax, England, the son of Joseph Herbert & Henrietta (Pilling) Brook. Geoff received his Bachelor’s Degree from the Institution of Mechanical Engineering, England. In 1967 he was recruited by Sundstrand and moved to the United States to begin his career with that company. He earned his Masters Degree in Engineering from University of Illinois, Champaign. Geoff worked for Sundstrand until 1980 when he left to start his own company, Energy Dynamics Inc. He retired in 2007 as Alzheimer’s Disease began its slow but steady progression. Geoff married Jane Journy at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Rockford on May 2, 1981. He was a member of Hope Evangelical Free Church, Roscoe, IL and formerly of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Rockton, IL. He cherished family time and had a deep love for his children and grandchildren. An avid athlete, he enjoyed sailing, swimming, biking, running and woodworking.
Survivors include wife, Jane; children, Joanne (Nik) Robertson, Daniel (Tammy) Brook and Jonathan Brook; grandchildren, Greg Robertson, Adele (Nick) Hendrix, Anya Robertson, Mikenzie Brook and Miranda Brook; many brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, infant brother David, In-laws, Jim and Marjorie Journy and brother in-law Martin Journy.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Hope Evangelical Free Church, 5656 Elevator Rd, Roscoe, IL 61073. Visitation 5-7 pm Friday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association in his name.
