Genevieve “Geva” S. Thompson

Genevieve “Geva” S. Thompson, 78, Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Marshfield, WI, the daughter of Chester Oliver and Sophronia LaValle (Moore) Breit. She married her high school sweetheart, Arnold Raymond Thompson on May 22, 1965, and they were blessed with 3 children and 23 years of marriage. Arnold passed away on January 1, 1999. She was employed by Hamilton Sundstrand for almost 40 years until her retirement. While working at Sundstrand, she met Joe Maavich, and they were married on May 18, 2001. They were married for almost 20 years until Joe passed away on September 21, 2021.

Survived by her daughters, Stacey Bonetti, Michelle Thompson, and Kathleen (Curtis) Gilland; her grandchildren, Jessi Parham, Emily Gilland, and Elijah Gilland; her brother, Timothy (Margie) Breit; many nieces and nephews and her best friend, Michelle Hoffman. Predeceased by her parents and her sister, Nancy Pabiniak.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family. Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to GiGi’s Playhouse, 8801 N.
