Gene P. Dickinson, 84, of Rockton, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014, in his home. Born June 6, 1930, in Rockford, the son of Edward and Elsie (Johnson) Dickinson. Gene was a veteran of the United States Army Signal Corp serving in Hamburg, Germany. He married Bonnie Chaput on November 26, 1982. He worked for 34 years at Twin Disc Clutch, retiring in 1993. Gene was basketball coach at Holy Family Catholic Church for 14 years and was also a basketball score keeper at Boylan High School.
Survived by wife, Bonnie; children, Judy Baker, Cindy (mike) Swan, Wendy (Andy) Gloor, Chris (Pam) Dickinson; Tom Dickinson, Jean (Dan) Fricke, Dani (Phillip) Stublensky and Rachel (Kevin) Mahoney; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Glickley, Dawn Baker, Michael (Jennifer) Baker, Sarah (Eric) Jacobson, Kelley (Joe) Beard, Corey Gloor, Eric (Barb) Blomberg, Teresa (Bill) Cook, Michele Dickinson, Brian (Trish) Dickinson, Lucas Fricke, Michael Stublensky and Gabriel Stublensky; 19 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces and 3 nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Elsie and brothers, Kent, Jack and Robert Dickinson.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4055 North Rockton Avenue. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, assisted the family. Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
