Gene A. Salvatori

Gene "Gino" Salvatori 76 of Rockford passed away Thursday September 6, 2012 in Provena Cor Mariae after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 31, 1936 in Rockford , the son of Victorio and Bettina (Corirossi) Salvatori. He served in the Marines during the Korean conflict. Gino was the owner of Ginos Pizza, Mr. Gs Potato Chips and was owner/operator/salesman in the waste industry. He loved to take his family on vacation, play Monopoly, race pigeons, and having breakfast with his buddies. Gino was an avid Bear/Cub fan. He was a member of the Venetian Club, Lombardi Club, East Rockford Pigeon Club and former member of St Ambrogia. The family would like to thank, Heartland Hospice, Provena Cor Mariae and the Veterans Administration. Survivors include his three children, Tonia (Michael) Castiglioni of Rockton, Lori Salvatori of Loves Park and Michael Salvatori of Rockford. Granddaughter, Tina (Mark) Winters, great grandson Ryan and special friend Sandra Stafford. Predeceased by parents, brothers, Ernie and Joe Grazioli and Sister, Rose DAgostin.Visitation from 5pm until 7pm Monday September 10, 2012 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 Rockton Ave, Rockford, Il 61103. Visitation also Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 9:30am until time of service at 10 am at Fitzgerald Funeral Home followed by a burial at St Marys cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to be established by the family.
