Garrett “Garry” Douglas Maylum, 62, Rockford, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at UW Hospital in Madison following a battle with cancer. He was born October 31, 1958, in Cornwall, NY, the son of Leslie and Alice (Riggs) Maylum. Garry was a graduate of West High School in Davenport, IA, class of 1976. He was a veteran of the Navy serving from 1976 until 1982. Garry married Teresa Klonicki on January 23, 1984, in Houston, TX. He worked for G and K Services, later called Cintas Facility Services, for over 35 years, serving as a route supervisor for the last 5 years. He was an active member of Crosspoint Church. Garry was an avid Chicago Bears, Houston Astros, and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He coached little league baseball at Roy Gale Park for over 20 years and was an ISHA referee for football and basketball for many years. Garry’s greatest passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Teresa; his children, Jamie (Ryne) Bird, Eric (Kayla) Maylum, Brandon (Katherine) Maylum, Garrett (Ashley) Jahns and their family, and Joseph (Alisha) Jahns and their family; his grandchildren, Olivia and Joceyln Bird, Ayden and Aubrey Maylum, and Brayden and Hazel Maylum; his mother, Alice Moore; his siblings, Leslie “Buddy” (Sharon) Maylum, Mark, David, and Phylip (Stacey) Maylum; his sister-in-law, Sue Maylum; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, Leslie and his 2 brothers, Eric and Gregory.
There will be a visitation for family and friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, followed by a private family funeral service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Dave Spooner of Crosspoint Church officiating.
