Galen G. Bridge, 57

Rockford—Galen G. Bridge, 57 of Rockford died October 12, 2013 at Alden Debes Sub Acute Center of complications from a cervical spinal injury after a fall in August. He was born on October 8, 1956 to George H. and Lois (Pohl) Bridge. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Following his graduation from Jefferson High School in 1974, he moved to southern California, where he partnered in a copier company for several years. After returning to Rockford, he had been employed for 10 years at both UPS and Galger Manufacturing.

Galen was an avid sports fan and loved golf, basketball, and football, and especially enjoyed watching the Bears and Packers play. He was outgoing and friendly to everyone and had a unique sense of humor. He often made us laugh with his observations about people and life in general. He will be greatly missed by his family.

He is survived by his mother Lois, Sister Kimberly, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father George, grandparents and several aunts and uncles. Cremation will take place at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, and plans for a memorial service are pending for a later date. Special thanks to Galen's hospice nurse Marcia for all her comfort and compassion.
