Gail G. Goodwin, 76, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019. He was born September 11, 1942, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the son of Bertha (Hakes) and Glen Goodwin. Gail married the love of his life, Linda Floyd, on May 12, 1961. They were married for 58 years. Gail worked 21 years at National Lock Co. and retired from Eaton Automotive. He enjoyed writing and recording music and trips to Nashville, TN. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Tennessee Volunteers fan. Above all, Gail loved the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Survived by his loving wife, Linda Goodwin; children, William (Barbara) Goodwin, Lorrie (Stephen) Liphart and Vincent (Connie) Goodwin; grandchildren, David Goodwin, Jenna (Matthew) Rhoads, Morgan Liphart, Aaron (Shayla) Goodwin, Jordan Goodwin; great grandchildren, Kaylei Goodwin, Mahkena Goodwin, Hudson Rhoads and Eleanor Rhoads; sisters, Loretta (Wally) Pichelman and Donna (Ronald) Knull; brother-in-law, Ray (Debbie) Floyd and sisters-in-law, Loretta (Gilbert) Hundley and Shirley Goodwin. Predeceased by his parents; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. The family would like to thank the compassionate and caring staff of OSF St. Anthony Cardiac Critical Care Unit and Pastoral Care.
Funeral Services will be private per Gail’s wishes. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel assisted the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a cause to be determined at a later date. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
