Fred Johnson, 90 years old, died at home on February 26, 2021. Born November 30, 1930 to Alfred Johnson and Catherine (Uppenkamp) Johnson.
Fred was a kind, loving man who enjoyed life and people so much.
Fred began working at Bob's Hardware when he was 16 years old and was the store manager until his retirement 55 years later.
He was a very long time member of St. Rita Church, since 1965, when it was a farm house in Cherry Valley, IL. He volunteered for many things at St. Rita, especially for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Fred also volunteered many years at St. Anthony Hospital driving the shuttle van.
He loved playing golf and was so proud when he got his one and only hole in one. He was on a bowling league for many years. He enjoyed playing bingo and slots at the casino and vacationing with his wife, Mary Jane, his sister Betty and brother-in-law Rudy Puricelli.
Fred is lovingly survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Jane, daughter Chris Knauer, granddaughters Cindy Knauer, Nicky (Tom) Danielson, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, son-in- law Ron Knauer, sister Betty Puricelli, sister Ruth Scott, brother- in-laws Rudy Puricelli Carmen Capriola, Tony Chincherna, sister-in-law Anita Chincherna, and mother-in-law Lucy Capriola.

Funeral mass on Wednesday, January 3rd, at 11:00a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church. Msgr. Gerald Kobbeman will be officiating. Luncheon to follow at Holy Family Catholic Church. Private burial at Arlington Cemetary.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Poor Claires.
