Fred A. Forquer, 85, of Cherry Valley, IL passed away on May 10, 2017 in Venice,
FL. He was born on October 19, 1931 in Kirksville, MO, the son of Allen and
Edith (Johnson) Forquer. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during
the Korean War. Fred worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for nearly 35
years until his retirement in 1992. He married Norma Potter on November 29,
1957, the two were happily married for 43 years until her passing in 2001. Fred
was an avid golfer and fisherman, often taking trips with friends to various
fishing locations. He enjoyed traveling, dining, and outings with his longtime
companion Virginia “Ginny” Abbey by his side. Fred was a devoted family man,
particularly to his two grandsons. Whether it be his contagious laugh, warming
smile, or vibrant outlook on life, Fred will be dearly missed by all those who
knew him.
He is survived by Ginny Abbey; his daughters, Julie (Forquer) Mogle and Joni
(Forquer) Hauser; his grandsons, Colin Mogle and Robert “Robb” Hauser; his great
grandchildren, Noah and Tamra Hauser; brother Randy (Connie) Forquer; and many
wonderful friends. He is predeceased by his wife, Norma, sisters Marilyn and
Carol, and brother Ron.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m
at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Memorial service
to follow at 1:00 p.m. Inturnment will be private. In lieu of flowers,
memorials to a charity of your choosing in Fred’s honor.
