Franklin L. “Bud” Johnson, 98, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018. He was born September 5, 1920, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Leonard and Anna (Heikes) Johnson. Bud was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1938. He proudly served his country in the Unites states Army and fought in the final, great battle of Okinawa. Married Doris Tilley on January 28, 1961. She preceded him in death on May 4, 1983. He was a lifelong resident of Rockford and a member of the American Legion Post #1207.

Survived by his nieces, Dianne Kammerer and Madelaine (Gary) Giardini, great nephews, Jeffrey Kammerer, Donald (Kris) Kammerer Jr., Bradley Kammerer; great nieces, Merissa (Brock) Lanier, Monica (Brian) Woodford, great-great nieces; Rachel and Payton Kammerer and Ava Lanier, great-great nephews; Mason Lanier, Brody and Max Woodford. Predeceased by sister, Margaret (Ralph Carlson)
