Frank T. Gardona, 86, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born February 4, 1922 in Rockford; the son of Anthony and Mary (Gulotta) Gardona. Frank served in the Army and was in the 101st Tank Division serving at the Battle of the Bulge, receiving a Purple Heart. He married Vita Pulizzi in July 1946 in Rockford. He retired from Rockford Drill Head in 1990. Frank was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Vita; children, Anthony ""Nino"" Gardona, Marylou (Mike) Moore, Lynn Kuczynski and Pam (Joe) Bohn; grandchildren, Krista, Michael, Nicole, Corey and Robin; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Brandon; siblings, Anna VanDiver, Nancy Hitchcock, Jenny (Charles) Gagliano and John (Maria) Gardona; brother-in-law, Peter (Irene) Pulizzi. Predeceased by parents, a brother and a sister. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am Thursday, September 11, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church, 428 N. 2nd Street, with Father Dean Russell officiating. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation to be held from 4:30-7:30pm, with a rosary recited at 7:00pm Wednesday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
