Loving Father, Grandfather (Bobo), Uncle and Friend
Frank Gibler passed away on September 11, 2024 at Alden Debes Nursing Facility. Born on December 14, 1936 in Mattoon, IL, the son of Frank C Sr and Marjorie (Dougherty) Gibler. Graduated West High school in 1954 and is a veteran of the United States Air Force. Married the love of his life, Rita (Tuminaro) Gibler on July 15, 1961. He worked at Siegels Lumber in Elgin and retired in the late 1990’s. He enjoyed many years golfing with friends in Kentucky, loved fishing, doing yard work and solving word searches. He was a true Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and also enjoyed watching college football. He was a member of the VFW Post 1461 and American Legion (Carlson Post) where he and his wife volunteered and met many wonderful friends throughout the years.
Survivors include his daughter Traci O’Connell, grandson Brennan O’Connell, many nieces, nephews and cherished friends. Predeceased by his wife, Rita Gibler, whom he is joyously reunited with, infant daughter, Dawn Marie, brothers Joseph Gibler, William Gibler, sisters; Katherine Knight , Frances Leneker and parents. Special thanks to Audra and Mila at Comfort Keepers for their care and help with home healthcare and Alden Debes for their care and compassion shown to Frank.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service, 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank’s memory to: American Legion (Lt. C.A. Robert Carlson Post) 1011 South Alpine Road, Rockford, IL 61108 OR to the VFW Post 1461, 1310 W. Lincoln Avenue, Belvidere, IL 61008.
