Frances Susan Fertig, 89, of Rockford, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Wesley Willows Retirement Center. Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born December 21, 1918, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Anna (Walsh) Burns. Benjamin ""Budd"" Fertig fell in love with the Irish twinkle in her eye and they were married in Chicago on June 6, 1942. Frances and Budd moved to Rockford in 1956. Frances is a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and a past member of St. Rita Catholic Church and St. Patrick Catholic Church prior to that. Frances was a homemaker and loving mother who dedicated long hours to the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and many other of her childrens activities.She is survived by her husband, Budd; her sons, Dennis (Terry) of Grayslake, Gerald (Marie) of Rockford, Kevin (Carol) of Manteno, James (special friend, Kelly), and Robert (Denise), both of Rockford, and her daughter, Patricia (Tom) Troccoli of Schaumburg; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren snd many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; brothers Tom and Jack Burns and sisters, Roseanne and Jean. Frances children would like to extend their profound thanks to the entire staff of Wesley Willows for the years of kindness and support they have shown to Frances, Budd, and the entire family.Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am., Friday, March 28, 2008, in St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave., Rockford, with Rev. William R. Wentink officiating. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 5pm 8pm, with a Christian Wake Service at 7:45pm Thursday, March 27, 2008, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Av. Rockford, IL 61103 and Friday from 10am until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wesley Willows Retirement Center, 4141 N.
