Frances P. Fanara

Frances P. Fanara, 90, of Rockford died Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 at Anam Glen Care Center. Born October 17, 1925 the daughter of Ross and Theresa (Pumilia) Tusso and married her loving husband, Raymond Fanara on June 2, 1946 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Frances worked for Nelson Knitting in her early life and later owned and operated Court Street Food Market for 10 years. A former member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and current member of the Catholic Foresters. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the people, especially Bernie Marinelli, and all the loyal employees at Anam Glen. Without them we wouldn’t have had the special, loving care and most of all, the knowledge to be able to understand the humbling depths of dementia. Last, but not least, to Heartland Hospice, especially Tara and Bethany, and all the other hospice workers for their dedication and concern of helping our mother through her final hours.
Survivors include her children, Thomas (Nancy) Fanara, Susan (Richard) McVinnie and Joseph (Dana) Fanara; daughter-in-law, Jan Fanara; grandchildren, Joseph (Jamie) Fanara, Theresa (Chris) Murphy, Amanda (Adam) Czerwonka; Brad, Brian and Jeff Laronge, Melonie Pichardo; Jessica (Vince) Mazzarese, Matthew (Kara) McVinnie, Raymond Fanara, Phillip Fanara and Sophia Fanara; great grandchildren, Jase and Jesse Fanara, Austin, Dominic and Kailee Murphy, Azio, Francesca and Madalena Mazzarese, Devin, Britney, Nyko and Tegan McVinnie; special K9 companions, Rosie, Pedee and Rosie and special friends, Tina Gomez, Wendy Slick and Mary Ruggero. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond on Oct. 12, 1980; her son, Ross on June 23, 1996; brothers, Andrew and Joseph Rotello and Joseph Tusso and sister, Martha Rebecca.
Funeral Mass Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Winnebago, IL. Visitation Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Wednesday at church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family.
