Frances M. Scalia

Frances M. Scalia 85 of Rockford, passed away Monday August 8, 2011. She was born September 20, 1925 in Rockford, the daughter of Samuel and Josephine (Albimino)Salamone. She married Mitchell Schiro in San Francisco, CA on September 10, 1949, Mitchell predeceased her on June 29, 1973. She then married Samuel Scalia in Rockford on September 14, 2002. Sam predeceased her on April 2, 2010. She worked for 25 years in various machine shops and then Swedish American Hospital as a cook and baker, retiring in 1991. Member of St Patrick Church.Survivors include her daughters, Francine (Lee) Barrie and Anna (Henry) Hauck; grandchildren, Krista (Gary) Jardeen, Bradley Barrie, Douglas Minnick, Todd Minnick and Oliver (Jennifer) Hauch; five great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Carol Schiro, Carmella Schiro and Josephine (Tom) Milone; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; good friends, Gary and Carol Rothwell. Predeceased by her parents; husbands, Mitchell and Samuel; sisters, Anna, Nicolina and Jennie; brother, Nicolas.Funeral Mass at 10am Thursday August 11, 2011 in St Patrick Church with Father Ricardo officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 5pm until 7pm Wednesday August 10, 2011 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. Visitation also from 9am until 9:45am Thursday in the church.
