Frances Las Casas Pumilia, 96 of Rockford, died on December 8, 2007 at Wesley Willows. Born November 28, 1911 in Oglesby, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Sagona) Las Casas. Married Joseph Pumilia who preceded her in death in 1975. Worked as a seamstress for over 50 years retiring at age 70. Frances was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Known for her homemade pizza and teaching each generation the Italian cooking traditions. Survivors include her son, Carlo G. Pumilia of Naples, FL; daughter, Mary Jo (Robert) Murray of Rockford; four favorite grand daughters, Carla (Brian) McCarty and Gina (Jeff) Theilmann both of Eden Prairie, MN, Marcy (Keith) Wall of Maryville, TN, and Kimberly (Scott) Warren of Sycamore; darling great grandchildren, Michael, Colin (Sarah), Erin, Chelsea, Kyle and Chase. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 3 sisters. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wesley Willows for their kindness and compassion to our mother. Funeral Mass Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2300 Bell Ave.. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 9 9:45 in St. Bernadette Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Poor Clares Corpus Christi Monastery, St. Bernadette Catholic Church or the Wesley Willows Good Samaritan Fund. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, assisted the family with arrangements.
