Frances Flowers

Frances Foreman Flowers, 91, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 in Swedish American Hospital after a short illness. Frances was born on August 16, 1932 in Chidester, AR to Eugene Gulley and Lydia Lawrence. She moved to Rockford from Arkansas in the late 1950s and began working for Rockford Memorial Hospital. She obtained her CNA license and was later employed for many years by PA Peterson Nursing Home from which she retired as Director of Nursing. She was a member of Henrietta Avenue Church of Christ. Frances was a charming person, loved by everyone who met her. She was known as “Mama Frances” by family members for her maternal and nurturing qualities. She enjoyed cooking and decorating.

Frances leaves behind a daughter, Kay Foreman of Rockford, IL, granddaughters, Juiquetta Harmon of Oxford, OH, Gwendolyn Nwankwo of Dallas, TX, grandson, Louis Foreman, Jr of Rockford, IL, great grandson, Jabaari Harmon of Oxford, OH; three sisters , Mildred Gulley and Ruth Ann Gulley of Rockford, IL and Margaret Story of Chidester, AR; one brother, Billy Gulley of Denver, CO. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Lydia Gulley; brothers, Dennis, Benny, Herbert and Thomas Gulley; Sisters, Eartha Lee Brown, Laura Gulley Dupree, Clara Gulley and Imo Jean Russey and son, Louis Foreman.
