Florence L. Tarquini

Florence Loretta (Paris) Tarquini, 91, a lifelong resident of Rockford, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 in her home with family at her side. She was born on May 8, 1923 the daughter of Anthony and Josephine Paris. Married her loving husband Dominic Tarquini on April 27, 1946 and was married for 66 years until his death in 2012. Worked for National Lock, Rockford Stevens and owned Twin Oaks Restaurant and Da-Mar Tap. Florence was a member of the National Catholic Order of Foresters, enjoyed golfing with Dominic and loved wintering in Florida.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Novak, Louise (Craig) Skolrood; grandchildren, Kim (Scott) Pearson, Ryan (Natasha) Novak, Michael (Colleen) Skolrood, Gregory (Dipal) Skolrood, Michele (Gordon) Wong, Great Grandchildren, Dominick and Matthew Pearson, Marchella Novak, Grant, Ella and Maddie Skolrood; sisters, Marie Sherman and Jean (Don) Restauri; sister-in-law, Hilda Bondick and best buddy, Vinny and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dominic; sister, Ida Calkins and brother-in-law, Sam Sherman. Florence’s family was the main focus of her life.
She was happiest when they would all gather at her home and share her delicious food. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her great joy. Carrying on holiday traditions was important to her and she passed all along to her daughters and their families. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to VNA Hospice for all of their kindness and support.
Funeral Mass Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr. Interment will be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. From 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary service to be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Rita’s from 9:30 a.m. until time of prayer at 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
