LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANDPA Felix “Phil” J. Armato, 92, of Rockford, passed away December 28, 2017 at Cherryvale Place. Born April 6,1925, in Chicago, the son of Carl & Mamie (Rebecca) Armato. Served in the US Army during WWII. Married the love of his life Joyce Kimberly in Rockford, on May 27, 1950. She predeceased him July 20, 2007. He was a long term resident of Cloisters on Forest Hills Rd. During his career he managed Domino Liquors and owned numerous businesses such as Horseshoe Tap, Jeri’s Beauty Salons, The Rockton Ave. Laundry Mat, and co-owner of Plaza Liquor’s with dear friend George Zammuto. He played semipro football for the Golden Eagles and in the Army. Everyone who knew Phil knows that he was an avid Bears and Cubs fan – a man with a deep love for his family.
Survivors include daughters, Carla (John) Koyak and their children, Matthew (Dana), Brad (Kate) Koyak and Lauren (Jason) Niedzwiecki; Patte (Bob) Lund and their children, Lena and Van Lund; Dana (Joe) Fanara and their children Raymond, Phillip and Sophia Fanara; great grandchildren, Harmon, Logan. Neila, Corbin, Alessa and Landon; sister in law Marge Armato; special friends Gwen Oliver and John Wilham. Predeceased by parents, wife Joyce, infant brother, sisters Madeline Armato and Josephine Taylor and brothers Sam and Peter Armato. Sister in law Judy Armato and Brother in law Jim Taylor.
The family would like to give a very special thanks to Dr. Michael Werkel, the staff of Hospice Care of America and the staff of Cherryvale Place for all their loving care and support.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation from 9:30 until time of mass. Entombment at Sunset memorial Gardens.
