Evelyn R. Campbell

Evelyn R. Campbell, 52, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in her home. Born January 29, 1962, in Shabbona, Illinois, the youngest of 12 siblings and the daughter of Jerome and Jean (Desautels) Herrmann. She earned her Bachelors in Accounting from Illinois State University. Evelyn married Dennis Campbell on May 20, 1989 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Byron. She worked as a CFO for Highland Hospital in Belvidere, as a part of the Swedish American Hospital management team and most recently as a senior accountant with SPX Industries. Evelyn was an active member at the Cathedral of St. Peter, serving as Treasurer for the Home & School Program. She was on the Finance Commission for the parish and was instrumental in bringing the Cancer Support Group to the church.
Survived by her husband, Dennis; son, Joshua James; daughter, Caitlin Rae; siblings, Therese (Joe) Diedrich, Walt LaTondre, Helen (Charlie) Fox, Annette (Bob) Marson, Larry (Afsaneh) Herrmann, Lu (Ray) Rossi, Sr. Denise Herrmann, CSA, Gerry (Lynne) Herrmann, Matt (Ellen) Herrmann, Agnes (Don) Kiertscher and Tony (Kay) Herrmann; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents and sister, Peg.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Cathedral of St. Peter with Rev. Carl Beekman officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 North Rockton Ave. and will continue on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the church. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to make memorials to the Music Department at the Cathedral of St. Peter or the Music Department at Court Street United Methodist Church.
