Evelyn Morgridge Grohens

Evelyn Morgridge Grohens, 91 of Rockford died Monday, June 11, 2007 in her home. Born October 24, 1915 in Freeport, IL to Robert H. and Frances B. (Downey) Morgridge and raised in Amboy, IL. On December 27, 1939 she married Edward S. Grohens. He predeceased her on November 12, 1969. She was a teacher in the Rockford School District and volunteered at the St. Annes Society. She received her Bachelors in Education from Illinois State University in Normal, IL. After her retirement She taught reading at the Literacy Council, traveled the world, enjoyed ballroom dancing and was an avid reader. Evelyn is survived by her three children, Joseph R. Grohens, Champaign, IL; Katy A. Grohens, Rockford, IL; Dr. Daniel E. ( Dr. Joanne Langley) Grohens, Roscoe, IL. Grandchildren Anna D. Grohens, Keara D. Grohens, numerous nieces and nephews and devoted caregiver Zaneta (Aseviciene) Huntley. Predeceased by her parents, her husband and her brother Robert Morgridge. Funeral Mass will be held June 16, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Cathedral of St. Peter with Rev. Kevin Butler officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 15, from 5-8 pm in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Mulford Chapel, with a rosary recited at 7:30 pm.Visitation will continue at the Cathedral from 10 am until time of mass. Interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, Amboy, IL. To
