Evelyn Margrit Sparacino, 93 of Rockford died Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. Anne Center. Born October 27, 1919 in PortauPrince, Haiti, the daughter of Gustav Adolf and Marie Rose ""Hilda"" (Carlstrom) Gilg. Lived in Manhattan, NY and married her loving husband, Salvatore Sparacino in 1956. Worked in the Swiss tourism office in Washington, DC and New York City. Evelyn was an avid tennis player and was a member of the Leonia Tennis Club in Leonia, NJ. Survivors include her sisters, Louise Gilg of Rockford, Marie Etienne Du Christ, O.P. Switzerland, sisterinlaw, Trudy Gilg, nephews, Gustave Christian (Felicia) Gilg, Ronald (Jo Marie) Gilg and step sons; niece Rosemaire ""Rosie"" GilgWinquist and her son, Travis Winquist; nephews, Norman (Tammie) Gilg and their daughters, Margaret (Jeff) DeWitt, Katelyn Gilg and son Jared Gilg; Vinton Zwahlen and family; Michael Zwahlen and family ; Robert Zwahlen and family; cousins in France, Switzerland and U.S. and inlaws, Georgina and Werner Wandelmaier ,their children and family in New Jersey and Connecticut. Preceded in death by her husband in 1993, sister, Florence Zwahlen and brother, Gustave Gilg. Memorial Mass Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church, Rockford at 2 p.m. with a visitation from 1:30 until time of mass. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established at a later date. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel is assisting the family.
