Evelyn L. Almond

Evelyn L. Almond, 94, resident of Rockford and Ft. Lauderdale, FL passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008 in the loving arms of her family in her daughters home. Born January 5, 1914 in Rock Island, IL the daughter of Jesse and Mae (Peterson) Bisbee. She married Joseph W. Almond on September 19, 1931 in Belvidere, IL. He predeceased her in 1990. She had an enormous love for all of her family and was so grateful for the little things that were done for her. Evelyn loved spending time with her family and friends, entertaining and preparing meals for them. Her vacation homes in Wisconsin and Florida were her love, especially the lake and the ocean. She would spend as much time as she could there, but was always happier when a family member was present. She was an avid reader, historian, and a great storyteller. She is survived by her children Jesse Almond, Joanne (James) Smith, John (Carolyn) Almond, Ruth (D.L.) Garrett and daughter-in-law Mona Almond. Grandchildren Nancy (Dave) Smith, Ned Almond, Linda (George) Williams, Lois (Alan) Shores, John Almond, Doug (Diane) Almond, Jim Almond, Michael (Debbie) Smith, Jason (Karli) Smith, Pam (Robb) Fray, Sue (Dave) Severing, Kelly Paris, Tracy and Jeff Garrett. Sister Helen Nelson, 27 great-grandchildren and 10 great- great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Joseph, son Joseph ""Gene"" Almond, daughter-in-law Delores Almond, grandchildren Daniel Almond, Randy and Timothy Smith, Great-grandson Luke Paris. Brothers John and Elmer Bisbee. Special thanks to her loving caregiver and special friend Dr. Mike as well as the staff at Northern Illinois Hospice. Funeral Service will be held in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Loren Nielsen officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., and from 10:00 until the time of service Wednesday in the church. Interment in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Northern Illinois Hospice, 4215 Newburg Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. To
